Bat­tle of the choirs

Nine com­mu­nity and school choirs will be singing in the Equa­tor choir com­pe­ti­tion to­mor­row (Fri­day) night.

Choirs from Great Chart Pri­mary School and High­worth Gram­mar School will be com­pet­ing against seven oth­ers at St Mary’s Parish Church in Ash­ford town cen­tre from 7pm.

The event, or­gan­ised by the Equa­tor Fes­ti­val Mu­sic Se­ries and Kent Mu­sic, will fea­ture spe­cial guest per­former Bethany Terry, the win­ner of an Equa­torShivanova event last year.

The year 8 pupil from High­worth is a singer-song­writer, and will per­form while the judges are de­lib­er­at­ing.

This year’s judg­ing panel com­prises mu­si­cians from all over the county, in­clud­ing com­poser Paul Pat­ter­son, choral tu­tors from Kent Mu­sic and mem­bers of Equa­tor and Shiv­anova.

Chil­dren and fam­i­lies are wel­come to at­tend. Tick­ets are £7 or £4 with con­ces­sions.
