Young musicians line up for Festival in the Park
A free music and arts festival in aid of the Ashford Youth Theatre (AYT) takes place in Ashford town centre this weekend.
North Park, alongside the Stour Centre, will be transformed with a varied line-up of live music for this year’s Festival in the Park.
Acts performing include Live ‘N’ Kickin, Luke Jackson, Know Your Enemy, Coco And The Butterfields, and Beki Robinson.
Money raised will be donated to AYT in nearby Dover Place, and youngsters who attend the group will be lending a hand to ensure the festival’s success.
Organiser Edward Lockett said: “The theatre is the reason why I’ve been doing this festival for nine years now.
“Stella who runs it has been looking after kids for around 30 years now.
“It’s thanks to her that parents can leave their kids, safe in the knowledge that they’re being looked after.
“But they also learn some good solid skills, and they work really hard, from Friday afternoon through until Monday morning, setting up lights and helping to run things.”
As well as some of the finest musical acts from across the borough, visitors to the park, just off Tannery Lane, will be treated to a whole range of entertainment.
Highlights of the festival, running from noon until 11pm on Saturday, and from noon until 10pm on Sunday, will include a funfair, dancing displays, stalls selling refreshments and a beer tent.
