Great day at fair

A record crowd en­joyed a day of fam­ily fun at the Ken­ning­ton Sum­mer Fair on Satur­day.

More than 2,500 peo­ple went to the Recre­ation Ground, Ul­ley Road, to visit the var­i­ous stalls, take turns on the fun­fair rides, and en­joy the ice creams and hot food on of­fer.

Tow­ers Cheer­lead­ers, may­pole dancers from Ken­ning­ton Ju­nior School, the Downs View In­fants choir, Phoenix Pri­mary School and the Reel Eire Dance Group pro­vided en­ter­tain­ment in the arena.

The fun dog show was also a big suc­cess, with ev­ery pet on its best be­hav­iour.

Fair or­gan­iser Jill Britcher said: “It was bril­liant, the sun shone and the crowds poured in. This was a big day for the com­mu­nity in Ken­ning­ton. So many lo­cal peo­ple were help­ing and lo­cal busi­nesses were very gen­er­ous with prizes for our grand raf­fle.

“A big thank you to ev­ery­one who helped to make the day such a suc­cess.”
