Park still ne­glected

Well done Sharon Rosewell for speak­ing up about the state of the Queen Mother Park (July 4).

I strongly sup­port her com­ments, as I tried to cam­paign about the same thing most of last year.

I was in con­tact with two coun­cil­lors who seemed to agree that some­thing had to be done. They agreed that the fol­low­ing were needed; more rub­bish bins, more dog waste bins, more benches and even a re­place­ment chil­dren’s slide that was re­moved for safety rea­sons and not re­placed.

But it seems that Sharon will be wast­ing her ef­forts as you have to be­long to the “Fo­rum clique” and be known for do­ing good in Ash­ford be­fore.

The park is there for young and old alike and I too re­mem­ber fam­i­lies en­joy­ing the area but, as Sharon says, it is just a wilder­ness that breeds more rub­bish.

As a reg­u­lar user and dog walker, I have seen many things go­ing on there, of­ten il­le­gal.
