Man suffers fatal collapse at station
A man has died after collapsing at Ashford International railway station.
The emergency services were called to the station after the man, in his sixties from Lydd, suffered a suspected heart attack and collapsed on the stairs leading up to platforms 1 and 2 just after 3pm on Wednesday of last week.
An ambulance and two police cars arrived on the scene, but paramedics were unable to revive the man.
South East Coast Ambulance spokesman Rich Airey said: “Sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts the man was pronounced dead on the scene.”
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokeswoman said: “The incident was reported to BTP at 3.36pm, and is currently being treated as non-suspicious. A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
