Mersham Sports survived a late collapse to edge home by four wickets in the Championship East local derby at bottom side Kennington on Saturday. Needing only 9a to win, they must have felt it was job done at 82-2, only to lose four wickets for seven runs before skipper Darren Pugh got his side across the winning line. Matthew Fagg (4-34) and Pugh (3-28) were the pick of Mersham’s attack as Kennington struggled to 90 all out. Joe Jolley made 22, with 19 extras including 10 wides second top score. Stuart Woodbridge hit 52 as Wye eased to an eight-wicket win in Division 1 Central at Sheppey. He hit nine fours in his 70-ball knock, before Raj Mahadevaiah (38 not out) and Lewis Elgar (26 not out) saw them home on 154-2 Stuart Wise (4-27) earlier helped dismiss the home side for 153. Vijal Sajikumar hit 31 in Willesborough’s 40-run home defeat against Frindsbury. The Medway visitors conceded 21 wides in an extras total of 34, dismising the hosts for 146. Ashley Robinson (4-43) and Tim Luckhurst (3-53) were the best of the Boro bowlers in Frindsbury’s 186.
Great Chart topped 300 in their drawn friendly with Boughton and Eastwell at Godinton Park on Sunday. Openers Duncan Garrett ( 116 not out) and Simon Harris (107) added 208 and then Gavin Hope (65) hit seven fours and five sixes from just 27 balls as Chart totalled 305-1 from 43 overs. Craig Mannering hit 88 in Boughton and Eastwell’s reply as they closed on on 176-7.
