The land­mark £7mil­lion John Lewis at Home store in Ash­ford is rapidly tak­ing shape.

The me­tal frame­work of the store looks to have been com­pleted at the site off Drovers Round­about off Maid­stone Road.

Con­struc­tion of the John Lewis be­gan in June and is ex­pected to be com­pleted by the end of the year.

Once com­pleted the fur­ni­ture and home­ware store will cre­ate about 125 jobs in the town in­clud­ing sales as­sis­tants, spe­cial­ist ad­vis­ers and cater­ing pro­fes­sion­als.

Gly­nis Gun­ning-Steven­son, who was an­nounced as man­ager this month, said: “As a busi­ness we are com­mit­ted to re­cruit­ing lo­cally and I’m con­fi­dent that our re­cruit­ment team will se­lect a strong group of in­di­vid­u­als to help launch our at home shop to the peo­ple of Ash­ford.”

It will only be the 10th John Lewis at home store, which fo­cus on fur­ni­ture, fur­nish­ing ac­ces­sories, elec­tri­cal and home tech­nol­ogy.
