Nurs­ing ban for racist man­ager of care home

js­cott@thek­m­ A care home man­ager who voiced her dis­gust at el­derly res­i­dents be­ing helped to use the toi­let by black car­ers has been banned from nurs­ing for a year.

South African He­lene Coet­zee made the com­ments when she was man­ager of Bupa’s £7 mil­lion flag­ship de­men­tia care home War­ren Lodge, which opened near Ash­ford’s Drovers round­about in May 2011.

She stunned col­leagues say­ing: “I pride my­self on not hav­ing many for­eign­ers here.”

She was also heard to say: “I don’t want any more black nurses, there are al­ready enough in the home.”
