Competitive Scouts and Guides raised more than £300 on Saturday by competing in the Tuppenny Trail challenge.

The event saw two teams from the Ruckinge and Hamstreet Scouts and Guides, the Tuppenny Tigers and the Ruckinge Roosters, competing to build the longest line made from 2ps.

The two lines, which ran alongside each other, stretched half way around Hamstreet’s Victory Hall Green.

The Tigers’ and Roosters’ lines were too close in length to decide the winning team.

Margaret Hanlon, a member of the parents’ group, said: “The challenge definitely bought out a competitive spirit among the children.”

The event raised more than £300 for the group.

Mrs Hanlon added: “We are sure that banks in the area have seen a shortage of 2ps over the last few weeks, as we collected so many.”
