Katy’s artistic animals
A wildlife mural has been completed by an Ashford School pupil – for pupils at another school.
Badgers, foxes, squirrels and hedgehogs all feature in the art work by Katy Peart which has brightened up the early years foundation outside area at High Halden Primary School.
Katy, 19, who is hoping to become a primary school teacher, was asked to do the project by her art teacher, who knows High Halden’s head, Lindsay Roberts.
She started it in November and it took longer than expected because of bad weather. The early years classes, which are called Badger, Fox, Squirrel and Hedgehog, were asked about the design.
“The pupils came up with the ideas,” said Katy. “They were great. The mural is all their design.
“It has been a great experience which counts towards my work experience. The pupils have taken an interest in it as it has developed.”
Katy hopes to go to Canterbury Christ Church University in October to do primary teaching.
