Council leader’s bin apology
firstname.lastname@example.org Ashford council’s leader has publicly apologised to the thousands of residents hit by bin bungles over the past fortnight. Cl lr Gerry Clarkson ( Con) made the “we’re sorry”statement during a full council meeting, in the wake of a deluge of complaints from residents across the borough – furious at either not having their bins emptied or not even having them delivered to use.
And Biffa, the firm carrying out the new refuse and recycling service for ABC, this week also apologised but added that it was “comfortable” with the “performance levels” so far.
Promising improvements, Cllr Clarkson blamed the overwhelming amount of waste that had been left out for the binmen – more than double expected levels – as the main cause for more than 100 streets suffering delayed collections last week.
