New type of supermarket shopping
Customers were able to use the new “scan as you shop” service at Tesco in Park Farm for the first time yesterday (Wednesday).
The shop unveiled the new scanners this week – which will allow Clubcard customers to scan and pack items as they go along, saving time queuing at the till.
The facility also shows customers how much they are spending as they shop so they can keep track of their budget.
Scan as you shop programme manager Helen Owen said: “We find that it’s particularly popular with families as it has the added bonus of keeping the kids amused while you’re shopping. It’s also an opportunity to keep track of how much you’re spending.”
Store manager Lynsey Patterson said: “I can’t wait to see how customers react to the new scan as you shop service. We always want make things better for customers, and we’re sure they’ll love it”
Tesco assistants will be on hand to teach customers how to use the new service.
