Restore our tower
Our town of Ashford is quite a historic and yet it has very few historic buildings.
Ashford Parish Church is probably our best known landmark. The town’s history and subsequent development has much to do with the railway works which over the years employed many thousands of workers.
The works closed several years ago now and is finally undergoing redevelopment which should be of great credit to the borough.
However, one of our most iconic buildings seems to be falling sadly into disrepair. The clock tower, through which the work force over many years used to pass through and clock in and out of work. I hope that the planners of ABC have stipulated that this building must be preserved and restored to its original glory. Graham Sutherland Singleton, Ashford
