Weather causes deluge of rail delays
Rail commuters in Ashford were faced with delays on Tuesday morning, with more than 60 cancellations across Kent resulting from the storm.
Network Rail said that signal- ling problems on the line were caused by power cables coming down over the railway lines in Penshurst, near Tunbridge Wells, at around 5.30am.
Rail operator Southeastern also had to contend with flooding at their Gillingham depot, leading to major disruptions during the morning rush hour. Over 70% of services were running on time by the evening rush hour.
