Perfect conditions for garden fundraiser
A couple from Charing Heath raised more than £1,000 for two separate charities when they opened up their renowned garden to the public.
Alan and Pamela Scrivens have been opening up their garden to visitors and for private tours for the past four years as part of the National Gardens Scheme (NGS).
The couple’s daughter-in-law, Karen Scrivens, said: “The day was a great success. We had lovely weather for it.”
In total, £800 was raised from admissions, which will be donated to the NGS, and a further £400 was raised from the sale of tea and cakes, which is to be given to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).
Visitors are invited to attend the next open day of the garden, which is located at Tram Hatch, in Barnfield Road, Charing Heath TN27 0BN, on Sunday, August 11 between 12.30pm and 5.30pm.
