Tough trek worth effort
A team of four friends raised almost £3,000 through a 100km charity trek.
Father and son Mark and Sam Wilson, of Thornton Close in Willesborough, and their friends Gemma Crouch and Nicola Jones successfully completed the Oxfam Trail Trekker challenge.
Mark and Sam trained for the trek by walking across the North Downs in the coldest winter and spring for years while more than 3,000 miles away in Abu Dhabi, where the women now live, they endured 30C to 40C heat to pre- pare for the event. The quartet then joined up for the trek, to spend a non-stop 29 hours and 43 minutes walking, running and cycling from Skipton in North Yorkshire through the Yorkshire Dales National Park and back again.
