College’s creative expansion
K College is expanding its range of creative industry courses at Henwood, its specialist art and fashion campus in Ashford.
The campus will now be offering further education courses in music technology and graphic design.
The mixing desk being installed is the same make that Dizee Rascal uses at EMI’s recording studios.
Students studying at the Creative Industries Training Hub will all be given the opportunity to run creative businesses, to give them essential experience and skills in working on professional contracts.
The hub will work closely with K College’s photography students based at the Jemmett Road campus in South Ashford.
Jez Giddings, head of faculty for creative industries said: “We are working closely with Ashford Borough Council and local businesses and creative venues to support the council’s arts manifesto.
“We currently have students undertaking a range of live vocational projects within Ashford, such as music tech students interning and running the live set-up for performances at St Mary’s Church.
“This is about making sure students are fully trained, ready for work and able to network and function in the creative industries before they leave education.”
