Community fund boost

Kentish Express Ashford & District - - Kent Business Update -

Ashford Borough Council secured £18.5m in funding from developers for 15 community projects last year. It negotiated contributions, known as section 106 agreements, from land owners to pay for services, amenities and infrastructure needs arising from the developments. The projects to receive funding included Willesborough Dykes cycle and footpath between Park Farm and Asda, improvements to play facilities at the Stour Centre, and the open space at Repton Park. Council leader Gerry Clarkson said: “I believe we lead the way in negotiating section 106 agreements, and really make them work for communities. You only need to look at the facilities already delivered and those that are forthcoming to see how we make them work for residents.”
