A cam­paigner for the rights of deaf peo­ple has been recog­nised in the hon­ours list.

Ter­rence An­thony Ri­ley, the chief ex­ec­u­tive of the Bri­tish Sign Lan­guage Broad­cast­ing Trust and chair­man of the Bri­tish Deaf As­so­ci­a­tion, has been awarded an OBE for his ser­vices to broad­cast­ing and to deaf peo­ple.

In May 2012 we re­ported how Mr Ri­ley, then 67, was cho­sen to carry the Olympic torch for his cam­paign­ing work.
