Two fires in bathroom of bedsit treated as arson
Police are investigating a case of arson after two fires started in a bathroom at the same property in Ashford on Monday night.
Fire crews were called to the bedsit in Beaver Road at 8.35pm, and again at 9.56pm, to a report that a small fire had broken out in a ground floor bathroom.
Two fire engines were sent on both occasions and the fires extinguished. It was reported that a shower curtain was damaged in the second fire. The fires are both being treated as suspicious, and of- ficers are now investigating.
A spokesman for Kent Police said: “We attended Beaver Road at 10pm Monday night after a fire crew had been to a fire in the communal bathroom of the property that is divided up into eight bedsits.
“As police officers went to check the bathroom, smoke was coming from it, from a second fire. This one damaged a shower curtain.
“The fires are being treated as arson and crime scenes investigators were at the scene Tuesday morning.”
