Respite day a piece of cake for carers
Volunteers from Ashford and Hythe took a well deserved rest when they came together to celebrate Carers Rights Day.
The Sugar Craft session was organised by Ashford based charity, Carers’ Support, at the Salvation Army Hall in Hythe last month to coincide with the national campaign.
The goal of the cakemaking workshop, which was run by friends and Waitrose workers Brenda Courtney and Theresa Axon, was to give carers from the area some much needed respite.
Brenda, who is a carer for her mother, said: “As a carer it has been important, not only for my mother, but for myself and my family to receive consistent and invaluable support from all sources.
“It has been a privilege to meet other carers who provide devoted care to their loved ones; likewise the Carers Support staff who care for us carers!”
