The start of the New Year also marks a new beginning for a comedy club.

The Lonestar Comedy Club, which started life in Folkestone, will bring some of the finest talent on the standup circuit to the new Bodes bar and cafe in Ashford.

The first show, on Wednesday, January 22, will see two top acts on stage.

Support act Mark Simmons is an emerging new talent on the comedy scene, who hails from Sellindge, and has performed at the Edinburgh fringe festival.

Headline act Joe Rowntree is a stand-up comedian, actor, writer and presenter, whose television career started back in 2001 writing put-downs for Anne Robinson on The Weakest Link.

He has since appeared on all six series of the award-winning hit Sky 1 show Brainiac: Science Abuse, culminating in two UK tours of Brainiac Live and an appearance at the Hammersmith Apollo.
