Dougall looking for even more consistency from leaders

Kentish Express Ashford & District - - -

Gregor Dougall says consistency and concentration are two areas Ashford want to improve on as they prepare to resume their London 3 South East title challenge against Dartfordians at Kinneys Field on Saturday. The leaders, four points clear of second-placed Thanet Wanderers, take on opponents who head coach Dougall (pictured) believes are the most improved team in the league this season. He said: “We were lucky to play them early in the season and came away with a close 24-22 victory in September. “They have developed as a side since then and are a well drilled outfit, who will test us.” Reflecting on Ashford’s rise to the top, Dougall added: “We are looking to be more consistent because there have been patches in games when we haven’t played the attractive rugby we know we can. “The players themselves identified that and the ability to concentrate for 80 minutes as areas where they want to do better, which makes the good players they are, very good.” Jake Fletcher and James Fitzpatrick both miss the game after being sent-off following a bust-up late in the 22-8 win at Folkestone last month. Fitzpatrick has pleaded guilty to the offence and Fletcher not guilty, ahead of a disciplinary hearing.
