CLUB EMERGE AS THE DOM­I­NANT FORCE BY WIN­NING A HOST OF TEAM AND IN­DI­VID­UAL AWARDS

Mav­er­icks Pool Club came within an ace of record­ing a clean-sweep in the Ash­ford League’s team and in­di­vid­ual awards.

They fielded five teams in three dif­fer­ent di­vi­sions, with Elite win­ning Di­vi­sion 1 and X fin­ish­ing third.

The T15 team topped Di­vi­sion 2 by a point, while Odd Squad clinched Di­vi­sion 3, fin­ish­ing 11 points ahead of near­est ri­vals Beaver Inn A. T8 fin­ished sec­ond bot­tom.

Jamie Yer­rall (Elite) won Di­vi­sion 1’s player-of-the-year award, pre­sented to the win­ner of most frames, Dar­ren Mad­den (T15) was the Di­vi­sion 2 re­cip­i­ent, but Barry Fan­non (Odd Squad) missed out by one frame in Di­vi­sion 3.

The league is played in pubs and clubs across Ash­ford with 10 teams in each di­vi­sion.

Each team is made up of a min­i­mum of six play­ers who each play two frames per match.

A point is awarded for each frame won, with two bonus points for a win and one for draw.
