Ash­ford missed out on win­ning the Na­tional Area Fours Fi­nal los­ing to Kent ri­vals Swale. The team of Anne Rut­land, Ian Payne, Mo Hayes and Char­lie Draper bowled im­pres­sively to reach this stage but lost to a bet­ter team on the day. The ladies beat Prince Arthur 77-74 in the Val­en­dor com­pe­ti­tion. Two rinks were played home and away with Sue Street, Gill Hawkes, Mar­garet Kett and Gill Howard record­ing the high­est win­ning score - 27-11. Ash­ford men lost 115-108 against Bette­shanger in the Kent League, pick­ing up 1.5 points. Keith Rich, Brad Pounds, John Rouse and Peter Arnold were the high­est win­ning rink. In friendlies, Ash­ford beat Wool­wich Af­ter­noon’s tour­ing side 108-101, The high­est win­ning rink was Vi Simp­kins, Paul Brabon, Al­bert Bai­ley and Anne Lai­dler - 29-10. Ash­ford lost 142-89 against Wealden. Jill Kirk, Anne Lai­dler, John El­ler­ing­ton and John Kirk were the high­est win­ning rink - 29-14. Ash­ford also lost 133-93 to Es­sex side Haver­ing, Ian Payne, John Rouse, Ann Lai­dler and Thomas Fair­man pro­duced the best win­ning score 22-11.
