Rol­ven­den bowed out of the Kent Ju­nior Cup af­ter a 2-1 ex­tra-time de­feat at Rochester & Dis­trict League side Park­wood CA on Satur­day. Tim Sims fired them in front mid­way through the first half, re­ward for be­ing the much stronger side for long pe­ri­ods. They also started the sec­ond half strongly, only for Park­wood to equalise with a 20yard free-kick. The tie fin­ished 1-1 at 90 min­utes only for Park­wood to snatch vic­tory with another 20-yard strike, leav­ing Rol­ven­den to rue on those ear­lier missed chances. Metro’s jour­ney in the county com­pe­ti­tion also ended with a 4-1 de­feat at Beltinge. Mean­while in the league, Lee Gosbee’s strike earned Lydd a 4- 4 draw against Ald­ing­ton. They trailed 4-2 at one stage be­fore Dan Frost hit his sec­ond of the game to spark the come­back Ear­lier, new sign­ing Char­lie Be­nard put Lydd in front only to be pegged back by half-time. Ald­ing­ton took the lead, but Frost made it 2-2. Joe West’s dou­ble, Ryan Lymn and Wes Laven­der’s penalty made up Ald­ing­ton’s tally, with ref­eree Chris Robins win­ning praise for his per­for­mance with the whis­tle. Scott Bur­den grabbed a hat-trick as The Wool­pack won 6-2 at River­side. Bur­den put them in front at half-time, pun­ish­ing a de­fen­sive mis­take, be­fore squeez­ing home the sec­ond, af­ter seiz­ing upon a poor clear­ance. Bradley God­den pulled one back al­most im­me­di­ately, rac­ing onto Lewis Rae’s lofted through ball, be­fore chip­ping over the ad­vanc­ing keeper. Chris Fen­ton added two more, book­end­ing Bur­den’s third, be­fore Chris­tian Whit­taker pulled another goal back. Matt Had­lum got Wool­pack’s sixth to round off the scor­ing.
