Chance to ap­ply for grants

The Kent FA have an­nounced de­tails about a new scheme which al­lows grass­roots clubs in the county to ap­ply for a grants from a £1.5m fund pro­vided by the Pre­mier League and The Foot­ball As­so­ci­a­tion. Clubs have to meet ba­sic el­i­gi­bil­ity cri­te­ria, and any­one can ap­ply. The par­tic­u­lar em­pha­sis is be­ing placed on in­creas­ing the num­ber of teams and play­ers in the un­der-15 and above age group, where par­tic­i­pa­tion num­bers tra­di­tion­ally de­cline as young­sters leave school and col­lege. The other key fo­cus is on grow­ing the num­ber of girls’, women’s and dis­abil­ity teams. A sum of £1,500 is avail­able to­wards cre­at­ing a new team – one per ap­pli­ca­tion. New teams can be a pro­gres­sion from un­der-16 to un­der-18, or un­der18 to un­der-21. Clubs in Kent will be able to ac­cess grants through the Grow the Game Scheme, which will be man­aged by the Foot­ball Foun­da­tion, the na­tion’s largest sports char­ity.
