Chance to apply for grants
The Kent FA have announced details about a new scheme which allows grassroots clubs in the county to apply for a grants from a £1.5m fund provided by the Premier League and The Football Association. Clubs have to meet basic eligibility criteria, and anyone can apply. The particular emphasis is being placed on increasing the number of teams and players in the under-15 and above age group, where participation numbers traditionally decline as youngsters leave school and college. The other key focus is on growing the number of girls’, women’s and disability teams. A sum of £1,500 is available towards creating a new team – one per application. New teams can be a progression from under-16 to under-18, or under18 to under-21. Clubs in Kent will be able to access grants through the Grow the Game Scheme, which will be managed by the Football Foundation, the nation’s largest sports charity.
