Suspended jail sentence
A 32-year-old man has been given a six-month prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, after pleading guilty to going equipped for theft.
Justin Stephen Stacey, of Smarden Road, Pluckley, was discovered on Tuesday, December 10, with articles on him for use in the course of or in connection with theft – porcelain from a spark plug, a torch, gloves and a scarf.
Stacey admitted the offence and was sentenced by Folkestone magistrates on Monday, January 6, to six months in prison, suspended for 12 months, and 100 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months.
He was also given a curfew to remain at home between 10pm and 6am daily until March 30. Stacey must also pay £85 court costs and an £80 victim surcharge and the porcelain, torch, gloves and scarf were forfeited and destroyed.
