We need to worship our cars less

Kentish Express Ashford & District - - Stanhope Fire -

I am writing in response to your article ‘Disabled Mum Slams Selfish Drivers’ (KE January 16).

Selfish parking is not confined just to Eureka Leisure Park, nor to allotted disabled parking bays. This problem extends to our pavements too, which are frequently obstructed by vehicles (even belonging to driving schools, and the police). Such inconsiderate, anti-social behaviour also adversely affects able bodied people.

What is slightly encouraging is, that the blog I set up a few months ago - http://pavementparking.blogspot.co.uk/ - has attracted 5,600 visitors, so there is obviously considerable concern over this issue.

We must learn to put people first, and worship our cars less. Ted Prangnell, Kennington
