Cou­ple hurt af­ter rob­bers break in

A cou­ple from Char­ing needed hos­pi­tal treat­ment af­ter be­ing attacked by rob­bers who broke into their home.

Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing af­ter a man and a woman were threat­ened by men who en­tered their prop­erty in Pett Lane about 8.30pm on Mon­day.

The cou­ple were as­saulted be­fore the sus­pects left with a quan­tity of jew­ellery and cash, in­clud­ing for­eign cur­rency.

The pair were both treated for head in­juries at the Wil­liam Har­vey Hos­pi­tal in Ash­ford.

Po­lice say they be­lieve this crime may have been planned by the raiders some time ago, per­haps weeks or even months in ad­vance.

Any­one who saw any­thing sus­pi­cious in the days or weeks lead­ing up to the in­ci­dent is asked to con­tact them.

Of­fi­cers are also keen to speak to any­one who was in the area on the night of the at­tack who may have seen a ve­hi­cle be­ing driven at speed in Char­ing High Street.
