Kentish Express Ashford & District - - Flying High -

The ward member for Wye is stepping down as a councillor due to professional commitments.

The announcement by Cllr Steve Wright, above, who was elected in May 2011, means that a by-election will be held.

Wye residents should direct any matters relating to council business to Cllr Jane Martin and Cllr William Howard, who cover the adjacent Saxon Shore Ward, until this happens.

Cllr Gerry Clarkson, leader of Ashford Borough Council, said: “I understand that work commitments have led Cllr Wright to stand down – an honourable course of action to take under the circumstances. I would like to put on record my thanks for his efforts on behalf of the Wye community.”
