Fund­ing for more projects

Other com­mu­ni­ties in­ter­ested in mark­ing the ma­jor an­niver­saries of the two world wars can ap­ply for fund­ing.

Ash­ford Bor­ough Coun­cil is invit­ing ap­pli­ca­tions from groups plan­ning projects to com­mem­o­rate the cen­te­nary of the start of the First World War this year and the 70th an­niver­sary of the end of the Sec­ond World War in 2015.

Grants of be­tween £100 and £750 are avail­able for one-off ed­u­ca­tion or her­itage projects.

Nom­i­na­tions can be made by not-for-profit com­mu­nity groups and vol­un­tary groups, com­mu­nity in­ter­est com­pa­nies, lo­cal branches of reg­is­tered char­i­ties, and town or par­ish coun­cils.

Fund­ing is avail­able for projects that ex­plore such war­time themes as the ex­pe­ri­ences of res­i­dents who fought in the wars; how lo­cal com­mu­ni­ties con­trib­uted to the war ef­fort; how lo­cal land­scapes were af­fected by the wars; the restora­tion of his­tor­i­cal doc­u­men­ta­tion and col­lec­tions linked to the wars; the doc­u­men­ta­tion of peo­ple’s ex­pe­ri­ences and mem­o­ries; and the restora­tion of war memo­ri­als.

Statu­tory or­gan­i­sa­tions, pri­vate com­pa­nies and in­di­vid­u­als are not el­i­gi­ble to ap­ply.
