£10k boost for mental health
A charity is set to receive almost £10,000 to support people with mental health issues. Speakup CICis being given £9,618 to create a peer support group for people in the borough to help each other. The money was awarded by Awards for All from the Big Lottery Fund. Director Maggie Gallant said: “We are really pleased that we can go ahead with our peer support group for mental health service users in Ashford. We hope to break down isolation and to help those coping with mental health difficulties to help and support each other.” Service users and representatives of the charity will be meeting at the Ashford Gateway Plus in Church Road, Ashford, at 11.30am on Thursday, January 30, to celebrate.
