£10k boost for men­tal health

A char­ity is set to re­ceive al­most £10,000 to sup­port peo­ple with men­tal health is­sues. Speakup CICis be­ing given £9,618 to cre­ate a peer sup­port group for peo­ple in the bor­ough to help each other. The money was awarded by Awards for All from the Big Lot­tery Fund. Di­rec­tor Mag­gie Gal­lant said: “We are re­ally pleased that we can go ahead with our peer sup­port group for men­tal health ser­vice users in Ash­ford. We hope to break down iso­la­tion and to help those cop­ing with men­tal health dif­fi­cul­ties to help and sup­port each other.” Ser­vice users and rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the char­ity will be meet­ing at the Ash­ford Gate­way Plus in Church Road, Ash­ford, at 11.30am on Thurs­day, Jan­uary 30, to cel­e­brate.
