Gasworks tower set to go
Plans to demolish a massive gas holder on the former gasworks site in Ashford have been submitted to the council.
Southern Gas Networks has notified Ashford Borough Council of its intention to demolish the out of use gas holder in Gasworks Lane, Ashford.
The Wiggins type holder, just off Victoria Way, was constructed in 1966.
It is 118ft in diameter and 130ft high, with a capacity of one million cubic feet of gas.
Demolition work is expected to begin by the summer, to be completed by November this year.
