Derelict school moves step nearer demolition
Construction work will soon begin on the site of the former Bybrook Infant School.
Hoardings were placed around the site in Bybrook Road, Kennington, in late December, with demolition work scheduled to start in the next six weeks.
Permission was granted for a small residential development of 14 properties to be constructed on the site back in April 2013.
The scheme will comprise four five-bedroom homes, four four-bedroom homes and six three-bedroom houses.
The redevelopment is expected to be completed early next year.
Bybrook Infants School opened in 1965. It closed in 2008 and has been derelict and heavily vandalised since.
It was replaced by the Phoenix Community School, which was constructed on the site of the nearby former Bybrook Junior School site.
