Four play­ers scored twice as Ash­ford’s Mens 1sts re­turned to Kent/Sus­sex Re­gional 1 ac­tion in style with a 9-0 de­feat of hosts Wor­thing.

Sam Han­d­ley’s dou­ble took his tally for the sea­son to 14, with skip­per Paul Cheap, Rob Play­ford and Ronan Tag­gart all scor­ing two each.

Ash­ford warmed up with a mid­week friendly against Can­ter­bury fol­low­ing the mid­sea­son break and the run-out paid div­i­dends.

The vic­tory com­pleted the dou­ble over the West Sus­sex club, fol­low­ing Ash­ford’s 4-0 win at Ball Lane ear­lier in the sea­son.

Danny Laslett’s side dom­i­nated the at­tack­ing line with 42 cir­cle pen­e­tra­tions.

They also claimed their fifth clean sheet of the sea­son and boast the best de­fen­sive record in the di­vi­sion, con­ced­ing only 16 goals in 12 games.

Two-goal Andy Hill paved the way for the 2nds’ 4-0 home win over Maid­stone to keep them sec­ond in Kent Area Di­vi­sion 1.

Stuart Wise and Adam Fox added one each.

Lawrence Richards, Isand Schwartz and skip­per Matt Carter scored as Ash­ford beat Can­ter­bury 3rds 3-2 in Kent Di­vi­sion 2 at Polo Farm.

Goal­keeper El­lis Sharp also pro­duced a fine dis­play as his side clinched their sev­enth win.

Lawrence Richards fired them ahead, tak­ing one touch be­fore fir­ing the ball home, af­ter seiz­ing on a home half clear­ance from a penalty cor­ner.

Can­ter­bury equalised shortly af­ter be­fore Dave Bulgin went close to get­ting a sec­ond be­fore half-time.

Sharp had to be at his best straight af­ter the break, pulling off sev­eral fine saves be­fore Can­ter­bury went in front again.

Schwartz then de­flected Josh Houston’s crash ball to make it 2-2 be­fore skip­per Matt Carter saw his ef­fort tipped past the post.

He was in­volved again in the build-up for Ash­ford’s win­ner, strik­ing the ball into the cir­cle to­wards team- mate Tom Light­foot.

The ball went through ev­ery­one, be­fore tak­ing a de­flec­tion off the skip­per into the net.

The 4ths gained a 5-0 walkover over op­po­nents Sut­ton Va­lence who were un­able to field a side.

Ray Se­madeni scored twice and Tim Fore­man got the other as Ash­ford 5ths beat Deal 3-0 in Kent Out­door Pre­mier B.

Al­fie Miller hit four as Ash­ford 6ths beat Mar­den Rus­sets 8-2 in Kent Di­vi­sion 2.

Brother Robin added another, while two more sib­lings, Ben and Jack Man­ning Press made scor­ing a real fam­ily af­fair. Jon Brown­ing added the eighth.

Dave Miller helped skip­per Harry Pick­er­ing’s birth­day cel­e­bra­tions con­tinue for another week as An­tiques side gained another three points with a 2-1 win at Burnt Ash.

Mark Rooney con­tin­ued his good scor­ing form be­fore Miller con­verted the win­ner sec­onds be­fore the fi­nal whis­tle.

Ash­ford Ladies slipped to their sec­ond suc­ces­sive 3-0 de­feat against Es­sex op­po­si­tion in East Women’s League, Di­vi­sion 2 South with de­feat at Thur­rock.

They played well but came up against a home goal­keeper in good form.

Emily Jake­man hit the win­ner as the 2nds beat Folke­stone 1-0 in Kent Di­vi­sion 1

Jake­man’s first ef­fort was blocked but fol­lowed-up to get the win­ner as Ash­ford earned a sec­ond suc­ces­sive clean sheet.

The 3rds game against the Univer­sity of Kent was post­poned.

Ash­ford sec­ond team’s Andy Hill scored twice against Maid­stone 2nds on Satur­day but on this oc­ca­sion the ball went wide and he ended up in the back of the net!
