Jog­ger dies in hos­pi­tal af­ter road ac­ci­dent

selvey@thek­m­group.co.uk A man knocked down by a car in Ash­ford more than three weeks ago has died in hos­pi­tal.

Pedes­trian Paul St­in­ton was hit by a ve­hi­cle while out jog­ging in Si­mone Weil Av­enue on Satur­day, Jan­uary 4.

The 45- year- old died in King’s Col­lege Hos­pi­tal, in Lon­don, last Thurs­day night.

Ear­lier, a 48-year-old Ash­ford woman was ar­rested on sus­pi­cion of dan­ger­ous driv­ing.

She has been re­leased on po­lice bail un­til Mon­day, March 24 while of­fi­cers make fur­ther in­quiries.

Mr St­in­ton was flown to hos­pi­tal af­ter be­ing hit by a Ford Kuga at about 1.45pm.

Emer­gency ser­vices had closed both car­riage­ways to al­low the air am­bu­lance to land.

Hun­dreds of mo­torists were trapped on the War­ren Re­tail Park af­ter Mr St­in­ton was struck at the traf­fic lights out­side the en­trance to the park.

A blue screen was put up around the ca­su­alty while paramedics bat­tled to save his life at the road­side.
