Hot-shot quartet lead the way as Ashford beat Royals
Ashford quartet Brian Hall, Ken Morgan, Brad Pounds and Graham Stanley compiled a “hot-shot” – a maximum eight shots on one end – in a 127-102 Kent League win over Tunbridge Wells Royals. It came in the highest winning rink won by 32 shots to nine, as the six were shared equally between the sides. The victory earned Ashford seven points. Four rink wins brought Ashford a 119-106 win over White Oak from Swanley. Peter Arnold, Peter Collett, Barry Davis and Jeff Price were the highest winning rink with a 28-11 success. Ashford took eight points from the game. The ladies produced a fine comeback to beat Tunbridge Wells 128- 86. They trailed by 20 shots at the tea interval but eventually recorded five rink wins – Cheryl Palmer, Pat Martin, Doris Finnis and Elona Griggs recording the best winning margin, 36- 6 – as Ashford won nine points. Margaret Kett skipped the most successful rink in a 122-104 defeat against Ashford Town. A. Bailey, Linda Harper and Gill Hawkes were the other three who won 24-16.
