Family look forward to trip after mum’s win
A five-year-old boy from Ashford was delighted to be getting his driving licence this week.
Little Callum Ballard was ecstatic when his mum, Liz, won a kmfm competition worth £1,000 and whisked her family of four off to LEGOLAND to celebrate.
Car dealer Hidsons is celebrating its 60th anniversary and stumped up the cash for people to win through the competition.
Liz was one of the finalists invited along to Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre for the climax of the competition which then involved the final three in a nail-biting conclusion.
She was announced as the winner to the delight of husband Andy along with Callum and big sister Libby, 10.
A large portion of the money is also being donated to Ocean Ward in Southampton General Hospital, where Liz’s eightmonth-old niece, Harley, has undergone two operations for congenital heart defect.
The 42-year-old, of The Street, Kennington, said: “The kids are so happy. We’re having a staycation this year and they’ve wanted to go to LEGOLAND for a long time but it’s so expensive.
“Callum is really excited to get his ‘driving licence’ [on the mini cars at the attraction] and Libby is looking forward to the water rides.
“As well as donating directly to Ocean Ward, some of the money will be put into organising more fundraisers, and we’re hoping to put a little towards a holiday next year too.”
