Wiseman delighted with second place in London Triathlon
Ashford Tri’s Scott Wiseman produced an excellent performance to finish second in the London Triathlon on Sunday in a time of 1hr 58min 10sec. A field of 4,500 lined up for the Olympic distance event based around the Excel Arena, including a 1,900m swim in Albert Dock, followed by a 40k cycle and 10k run. Wiseman’s times were 21.39, 57.14 and 34.40 for each discipline. The Ashford Prep School teacher said: “I am delighted with the result. I know I am in great shape and looking forward to another podium finish at Aberveldy in Scotland next weekend.” Chairman Steve Hickman was first Ashford & District Road Runner Club member home in the 40 mile GrimReaper Ultra Marathon based at Grimsthorpe Castle in Lincolnshire. He finished 28th out of 96 starters in 8:36.02. It was the 99th triathlon of his career and he is due to complete his century in the Isle of Wight in October. Amanda Bashford and Helen Weedon also took part – their third ultra marathon in a month. Bashford finished third in her category (9:14.13), with Weedon’s time of 10:02.08 – 40 minutes quicker than his previous best. Chris Boyce finished seventh (18.50) in the third Samphire Hoe 5k, leaving him third overall. The final race takes place on Wednesday, August 27. Boyce also won the latest Ashford parkrun in 18.29, 15 seconds ahead of runner-up Robert Carpenter (18.44).
