Joe El­gar’s ef­forts with bat and ball helped Wye com­plete a 82-run win over Rain­ham to stay third in Divi­sion 1A Cen­tral, two points be­hind lead­ers Hol­combe & Blue Bell Hill.

The Med­way side floun­dered af­ter a promis­ing start to be dis­missed for 132, El­gar fin­ish­ing with 4-21 as the Ash­ford vil­lagers recorded their 10th win in 13 starts.

(41) and skip­per Stu­art Wise (40) led a solid bat­ting dis­play, with El­gar hit­ting 36 in a to­tal of 214.

Paul White con­trib­uted an im­pres­sive 96 but still fin­ished up on the los­ing side, as 1B East bot­tom side Willes­bor­ough went down to a 20-run de­feat at home to Salt­wood.

Only Matthew Nash (33) made any other no­table con­tri­bu­tion in a to­tal of 184, re­ply­ing to the Hythe vis­i­tors’ in­nings of 204.

Mer­sham Sports suf­fered a sur­prise seven-wicket de­feat at home against strug­glers Street End, who broke their sea­son’s duck in Cham­pi­onship East.

Ken­ning­ton con­ceded their 1A East game at Mar­gate.
