Chief steps down in wake of diagnosis
In June, the trust’s chief executive, Stuart Bain, announced his plans to step down following his diagnosis with mantle cell lymphoma.
At the time he said: “It is with great sadness that I am telling you today that, after a period of deep reflection and thought, I have decided that it is best both for our Trust and for me personally that I retire at the end of this year.
“I was diagnosed with mantle cell lymphoma in 2013 and whilst this thankfully is not having any material impact on my health currently, I feel that the future uncertainty surrounding my health means I need to question whether I can realistically remain in post until my planned retirement year of 2016.”
Mr Bain joined the Trust in 2007 and will leave at the end of the year.
