Complaints over growth

Kentish Express Ashford & District - - Weeds Shame - By Suz Elvey

Overgrown foliage in a Park Farm road is so ugly residents have nicknamed Reed Crescent... Weed Crescent.

Some of the weeds have grown to 4ft and one person living at nearby Ruffets Wood is so fed up with the plants taking over the area year after year she is begging the council to rip out the offending flora and turf the area instead.

Gill Papi said: “It’s that time of year again when Reed Crescent, known locally as Weed Crescent, looks a total disgrace.

“This year is worse than any other year. The weeds line the whole road and are at least 4ft tall on both sides.

“A lot of what’s growing there are actually young elder trees.

“Why don’t the council dig the lot up and turf over instead of twice a year cutting the weeds down only for them to grow back within a few weeks?

“It must cost them less to mow once every month or so rather than employing an outside gardening contractor to come and cut them all down twice a year, which is totally ineffective. “When Park Farm was built it was planted with shrubs to enhance the area but now it just looks a total sight.

“Soon we won’t even be able to walk along the path.

“There are some really nice houses in this area but I’m ashamed of living near this road.”

Ms Papi said some neighbours were so fed up with the weeds they had started cutting them down themselves.
