Grand Prix vic­tory for young film­maker

A tal­ented film­maker is in pole po­si­tion for life in the fast lane af­ter win­ning a com­pe­ti­tion to meet For­mula 1 star Lewis Hamil­ton at the Ital­ian Grand Prix.

Ge­orge Ellsworth, of Pluck­ley Road, Smar­den, who has just com­pleted a level three diploma in creative me­dia pro­duc­tion at MidKent Col­lege’s Maid­stone Cam­pus, im­pressed judges with a road safety video cre­ated for the Mo­tor Sports As­so­ci­a­tion.

The judg­ing panel in­cluded Sky Sports F1 pre­sen­ters Johnny Her­bert and Natalie Pinkham and Ge­orge’s prize also in­cludes £2,000.

The 20-year-old said: “It’s a real thrill to be go­ing to Italy to watch the Grand Prix and to meet such a pres­ti­gious fig­ure in Bri­tish mo­tor­sport. I’ve only ever watched For­mula 1 on TV so I’m very ex­cited.”

Mr Ellsworth now plans to study a de­gree in dig­i­tal film pro­duc­tion at Ravens­bourne in Lon­don.

The Ital­ian Grand Prix takes place over the week­end of Septem­ber 5 to 7.
