Kentish Express Ashford & District - - County Coup -

On the back of the postcard of the bombing in Salonica, Henry Thomas Back wrote a note to his family.

It read: “Dear Mother, just a few lines to say I am quite well and I hope you are at home.

“We are not staying in Salonique Town for a time. I can’t say how long for.

“They say we will be leaving this month to march for Egypt again to be demobilised but are not sure yet.

“I have sent you a few postcards of Salonique when on fire, it destroyed some hundreds of houses.

“I have not had any letters from home since I received your Xmas letters so I can’t write much this time.

“I will close now with love and best wishes to you all, from Harry.”
