Sus­pended prison term for as­sault

An Ash­ford man who pleaded guilty to as­sault has been sen­tenced to 18 weeks in prison, sus­pended for two years.

On Satur­day, June 7, Dar­ren King, 44, of Lin­den Road, as­saulted another man in Ash­ford.

On the same day in Ash­ford he used threat­en­ing, abu­sive or in­sult­ing words or be­hav­iour with in­tent to cause another man to be­lieve that im­me­di­ate un­law­ful vi­o­lence would be used against him.

King pleaded guilty at Folke­stone Mag­is­trates’ Court on Au­gust 4 and was sen­tenced to 18 weeks in prison, sus­pended for two years, and or­dered to carry out 200 hours of un­paid work within 12 months.

He was also or­dered to pay £400 in com­pen­sa­tion and a to­tal of £170 costs.
