Trio’s national bid ended in second game
Ashford Rail trio Linda Greenhalgh, Christine Lock and Mo Hayes made a winning start in the Aero Bowls Women’s National Triple Championships at Leamington Spa at the weekend.
The Kent County champions beat Devon club Crediton 16-15 in the preliminary round of the competition on Sunday.
However they bowed out the following day, losing 21-17 against Burradon BC from Northumberland.
Kent clinched the Home Counties League title with a 132-97 win over Buckinghamshire at Olney on Saturday.
Needing three points to be confirmed champions, Kent won on all five rinks to claim a 20 point success.
In club matches, Rail lost 107-83 against Milton Regis on Saturday. The top winning rink saw Laurence Smith, Dennis Gibbs and skip Graham Williams win 18-11.
Rail were 68-44 winners at Rye in a four-rink-mixed triples. Best winning rink was lead Janet Williams, Terry Andrews and skip Alan Aldridge, who won 25-5.
The club meet Folkestone in the semi-finals of the Hudson Cup tomorrow (Friday).
They beat New Romney in the quarter-finals.
Hamstreet won 90-52 at Ashford Town in a four triples friendly on Saturday.
The winning rink was K.Nicholls, F.Trimmer and M.Brogan.
Sunday’s game at Westfield was rained off.
Hamstreet beat Iden 88-67 in their latest Mermaid League match.
The winning rink was K. Nicholls. F. Trimmer, and skip E. Ford.
