Piesley makes history
There was a historic milestone as Kent 2nds drew their Championship game against MCC Universities at Newclose CC last Thursday. Chris Piesley was given out handled ball for 34 in Kent’s second innings – just the second time in Championship cricket that a Kent player had been dismissed in this way. Five of the seven wickets to fall were via different methods as Kent were thwarted eight runs short of victory. The first and only previous player to be given out handled ball was George Bennett against Sussex at Hove in 1872. Former Kent star Steve Waugh was famously dismissed in the same manner for Australia against India in Channai in 2001. Meanwhile Adam Riley skippered the Kent 2nds in their latest Championship clash with Essex 2nds at Halstead on Tuesday.
