Commuters face £6,000 season tickets
Ashford’s rail commuters and passengers face more pain on the train next year. Season ticket prices and other fares are to rise on average by 3.5%.
The increases, announced this week, will see the price of a travelcard annual season ticket from Ashford to London, which includes High Speed One, rise by £206 to a whopping £6,119.
The cost of a year-long stand- ard season ticket, which excludes high speed services, will increase to a hefty £5,754. Ashford MP Damian Green said: “The era of above-inflation rail fare rises needs to come to an end. Rail travellers are being stretched to their limits. Higher fares ought to be accompanied by more reliable services.” Drink driver was doing 110mph
