Jail sentence for shoplifter
A man guilty of five counts of shoplifting in Ashford has been sentenced to three months in prison.
On Monday, June 30, Jason Brazier, 28, of Monkton Close, Ashford stole washing detergent worth £84 from a shop in Eureka Place.
Then on Sunday, July 6, he stole meat worth £141.60 from a shop in Brookfield Court, and meat worth £65.37 from a shop in Faversham Road. And on Thursday, July 10, he stole meat worth £137 from a shop in Hunter Avenue,, and on Monday, July 14, he stole meat worth £108 from a shop in Churchfield Way, Wye.
Brazier appeared at Thanet Magistrates’ Court on Monday, August 11 where he was sentenced to 90 days in prison, suspended for 12 months, and ordered to have treatment for his drug dependency. He must also pay a total of £250 in compensation, £85 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
