Jail sen­tence for sho­plifter

A man guilty of five counts of shoplift­ing in Ash­ford has been sen­tenced to three months in prison.

On Mon­day, June 30, Ja­son Bra­zier, 28, of Monk­ton Close, Ash­ford stole wash­ing deter­gent worth £84 from a shop in Eureka Place.

Then on Sun­day, July 6, he stole meat worth £141.60 from a shop in Brookfield Court, and meat worth £65.37 from a shop in Faversham Road. And on Thurs­day, July 10, he stole meat worth £137 from a shop in Hunter Av­enue,, and on Mon­day, July 14, he stole meat worth £108 from a shop in Churchfield Way, Wye.

Bra­zier ap­peared at Thanet Mag­is­trates’ Court on Mon­day, Au­gust 11 where he was sen­tenced to 90 days in prison, sus­pended for 12 months, and or­dered to have treat­ment for his drug de­pen­dency. He must also pay a to­tal of £250 in com­pen­sa­tion, £85 costs and a £60 vic­tim sur­charge.
